‘What’s Black Friday?’ led to a conversation in the infant classroom about Thanksgiving and a trans-Atlantic Zoom call to our friends in Pre-K Haverford Boys School in Philadelphia. They usually call us before St. Patrick’s Day to learn about our national holiday. Penpals with a modern twist. It was suggested that we fly over, but time and money were against us. This time 👀.
Speaking of, we are currently learning about time. It took a while to figure out the best time to call, with time differences. But after a deep conversation and some real problem solving, we agreed on 1.30pm Irish time. Our American friends were starting school as we were finishing our day.
The Junior Infants are learning about the sound ‘t’ and painted turkeys.
It was a great day for the parish.
We will celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday with a ‘feast’ of cool treats.
